Background: Malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB remain an important cause of mortality and morbidity in Sub-Saharan Africa. Children under 5 and pregnant women are the group most vulnerable to illness and death from malaria infection across Sub-Saharan Africa including Nigeria. However, with supplement funding from the US President Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria ( GFATM) and the world Bank. Many African Countries changed focus to scale up HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB services with a goal to increase access to quality healthcare services.

Objectives: To further promote access to care, prompt diagnosis, effective medication adherence and treatment of malaria as well as bringing related services needs as close as possible to the persons needing treatment.

Method: A Radom sample cluster survey was conducted between 2015-2020 involving over 550 community health workers. Along the service line community health workers engaged in outreaches, testing, counseling, data entry, treatment and prevention strategies.

Result: Although use of ACT for malaria treatment increase dramatically from 2 percent in 2008 to 18 percent in 2013, these figures remain below the National target of 80 percent by 2020 as specified in the National malaria strategic plan. Therefore there is need to engage the new model to optimize treatment, prevention and medication adherence as well as effective case management for elimination of malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa

Conclusion: The current mission of National Malaria Elimination Programme ( NMEP) based on its mission policy to provided equitable, comprehensive, cost effectivene and more efficient control services ensuring transparency, accountability, client satisfaction, innovation and community ownership, partnership and sustainability. This is to be achieved through community delivery mechanism either as stand- alone community based diagnosis and treatment program or within the context of integrated community based case management initiatives.
